Jobs and economy
For 125 years, the Wilson Quarry has been an economic cornerstone of San Benito County and the Central Coast.
We’re proud to help fund critical public services as a major local taxpayer. Graniterock is the second highest property taxpayer in San Benito County, and the highest contributor of the County’s aggregate production tax payments, paying approximately 75% of the aggregate production tax collected annually. Graniterock’s sales tax payment to San Benito County in 2024 was 11% of the sales tax collected.
We have 540 employees who live in the tri-county Central Coast, with more than 70 great union jobs, and 100 jobs in all, based at the Wilson Quarry alone. 103 Graniterock employees and their families live in San Benito County, many of them in families that have been here for generations.
By keeping production, employment and investment local, Graniterock strengthens the economy from the ground up. The materials produced at the Wilson Quarry supply nearby construction projects, reducing transportation costs and emissions, while providing opportunities for local contractors, suppliers and businesses.
Anchored by the Wilson Quarry, Graniterock is a customer supporting 52 local vendors, suppliers and service providers in San Benito County and 310 in the tri-county region. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of additional construction and construction material supply related jobs in San Benito County and the region because of the materials produced at the Wilson Quarry.
