A.R. Wilson Quarry
Reclamation Plan and
Use Permit Amendment Project
Graniterock’s goal in proposing the Permit Amendment Project is to solidify the future of the Wilson Quarry, so we can help build the future of San Benito County and the surrounding region.
This project will enable us to continue providing an affordable, local source of high-quality aggregate materials to road
improvement and other infrastructure projects in our communities. Specifically, Graniterock seeks to amend the Wilson Quarry Reclamation Plan and modify its Use Permit to continue the designed placement of reclamation material and subsequent revegetation of the project area.
The project area is located entirely within the boundary of Graniterock’s existing use permit, is adjacent to the existing reclamation area, and represents 5% of the total Wilson Quarry site, including buffer property. The project involves no new traffic, no new haul routes, no change in the vested aggregate production operations at the Wilson Quarry, and no change in the reclamation area’s end use, which is revegetated open space.
Graniterock seeks approval within the project area to continue placing native sedimentary material and surplus granitic material, generated during rock crushing operations, as it has been for generations.
Graniterock has operated its reclamation lands in careful compliance with the air, water, noise, habitat conservation, permit, and safety rules applicable to the site, as those regulations have been enhanced over the years. Nothing about the Project changes that.
Our Wilson Quarry operating team is constantly striving to make it better and will continue to be a good neighbor that’s responsive to our community.
Graniterock is proud of our 125-year legacy, throughout which we’ve been a vital supplier and builder of our region’s infrastructure. We have long served as an economic cornerstone of San Benito County and the Central Coast. The Wilson Quarry is a sustainable operation, powered with 100% renewable energy, and it continues to be a great source of local jobs. We’re also committed supporters of our community through our Graniterock Cares philanthropy program.
